Our Ballarat plant specialises in high volume Pressed Metal Clips, Fasteners and components. Manufacturing comprises High Speed Vertical Presses to 200 tonnes capacity, Multi-slide Presses up to GRM80, 3 shaker Hearth Heat Treatment lines for Spring Steel components and Geomet finishing line which provides protection of 500 hours plus. Ballarat has a fully integrated Tool Room, which is supported by online CAD CAM facilities for tool manufacture and maintenance. Our significant automotive work includes Brake Components (including direct exports to USA and South Africa), pressed and welded assemblies, clips, nut and washer assemblies to Ford, Holden and Mitsubishi. Our Campbellfield plant produces precision pressings to the Automotive industry. Here the focus is on Heavy Pressings with a range of conventional presses from 30 to 400 tonne machines. In addition 2 Transfer Press Lines are available for complex components not able to be pressed by conventional means. Campbellfield has the capability for Fine Blanking using 250 - 320 tonne presses. Complimenting this divisions pressing capability is Integrated Roto and Vibratory Deburring, Heat Treatment and E-coat Facilities to ensure in-house control of production and minimal lead times. The Current product range is produced from various ferrous and non ferrous materials including High Carbon and Alloyed Steels ranging in thickness from 0.8mm to 7.0mm. The products manufactured at Campbellfield include Safety Critical Components for Seat belts restraints and air bags used in all Australian and several overseas vehicles, Brake Pad Backing Plates, Window Winder Housings and Arms, Security Door Lock Bases, Pedal Towers, Flanges, Suspension arms and components, Door and Boot Hinge components and many others. Our Forging operation specialises in hot forging of Steel, aluminium, titanium, stainless steel, micro alloys, nickel and other ferrous and non ferrous materials. Equipment used at the forging operation includes 100 to 4500 tonne presses and drop hammers in various sizes. Along with manufacturing capabilities, CMI forge is able to offer assistance in the design of components and tooling, heat treatment, surface finishing, painting and coating. Over its 50 year history CMI forge has established a customer base in a wide range of industries including mining, agricultural, construction and leisure. The products supplied to these customers include track shoes for the mining industry, steering components for the automotive industry and golf club heads for the leisure industry.

With a history spanning back to 1872 where this division was manufacturing wood heaters, our Horsham operation has come a long way from its humble beginnings and is now one of the biggest employers in Horsham. The manufacturing process in the foundry is based on a green sand system feeding 2 x Hunter HMP 20 moulding machines. Moulds are produced at economic batches of 21 moulds upwards, versatility being one of Hunter’s attributes. Supporting facilities include shot blast, fettling, inspection, laboratory, and pattern making. Horsham specialises in producing various grades of Ductile Iron, and Engineering Grades of Grey Iron. eg. Brake discs, brake drums, pulleys, flanges, clutch plates, engine mount brackets, suspension components, hydraulic cylinder, pump, valve components, defence, agriculture, civil components and aluminium smelter plus (ingots). Our Kensington plant, is predominately a High Precision Machining Centre, with CNC Machining Centres (Chiron, Mazak) providing Machined Components to Holden Ltd, Ford Motor Co. and all major Tier 1 suppliers. The range of components include Machined Oil Pumps, Engine Mount Brackets, Thermostat Housings, Engine Oil Pumps, Exhaust Manifolds, Inlet Manifolds, Suspension Control Arms, Throttle Shafts, Throttle Bodies, Rear Suspension Brackets and Power Steering Brackets. Kensington also assembles Throttle Shafts, Throttle Bodies and Inlet Manifolds with Fuel Injector Systems.
